Dinner meeting. Speaker: West Island School Interact Club

Today our birthday boy was PP Thomas, so we sang the birthday song and President Adrian presented a bottle of red wine as birthday gift to him.

We had 14 members and guests from Rotary Club of Schwetzingen-Kurpfalz, 3 members from Rotary Club of Quarry Bay, 2 members from Rotary Club of Wanchai and one from Rotary Club of Pattaya, Thailand visiting us.

The raffles and fines of today will go to the Typhoon victims in The Philippines through our club’s ShelterBox Hong Kong project.

Our speakers today were Interactors from West Island School, who talked about their community service projects.  The Interact Club President Maylin told us their projects including service at Duchess of Kent Children’s Hospital, which is just next to their school.  They also teach the students at HK True Light College English through the Shakespeare drama program.  Next year the Interact Club will have a fund raising dinner to help raise money for continuing their projects.

Our Sergeant, Rtn Ellen collected HK$2,770 for raffle and fines.  We had four raffle prizes:  a bottle of red wine, two Golf umbrellas, and a camping chair.  Rtn Jim and PP Rex won the umbrella, a teacher from West Island School won the bottle of red wine, and a student won the camping chair.
