Lunch meeting: Hong Kong Guide Dog Association

We had a Golf Tournament before our lunch meeting today and had 12 members and visiting Rotarians from Rotary Club of Hong Kong Island East and Rotary Club of Shouson Hill join the game.  Rtn Joe announced that the champion of the Golf Tournament was CP Tobi, the first runner up was PP John Kwok and the second runner up was Rtn Rustom.

Our speakers today were Mr. Kin Ping Tsang and Mr. Brian Francis, who spoke about guide dogs in Hong Kong and the Hong Kong Guide Dogs Association, which, founded in 2011, provides free services to both people and dogs.

The HKGDA helps to train local guide dog staff, optimize local guide dog service, and sends their cadets overseas for training.  The Association is International Guide Dog Federation’s certified organization in Hong Kong, whose aims are: to enhance our guide dog services to meet international standards, to educate the public understanding and acceptance of guide dogs, and to promote the establishment of a harmonious community for the visually impaired.

Mr. KP Tsang attended with his guide dog partner Deanna showed us how the guide dog works with their partner.

Our Sergeant, Rtn Laurence collected HK$1130 for raffle and fines, we had three raffle prizes—bottles of wine—and the winners were Rtn Ellen, Rtn Mimi and AG Heman.
