PP Indra from Rotary Club of Madras visited us with her son, Shravan. President Michael presented our Club banner to her and PP Indra was so kind to present us their club pin to us.
Our speaker today was Rtn Al Pineda, who introduced himself to the club. Rtn Al was born and raised in Seattle, Washington and comes from a Spanish and Chinese descent. He gained his education in the US and graduated with a degree in Management, Information Systems. He is currently pursuing a part-time MBA. He has two daughters with his wife, Jo Hsin, and they all have lived in Hong Kong for 7 years. He is the Managing Director of Synchron Industrial Ltd. and his company is mainly dealing in chrome ore, focusing on procurement from Turkey and Pakistan and trading the ore with China.
His main hobbies and interests are playing the violin, manual camera photography, and practicing Chinese calligraphy and painting bamboo.
Rtn Al joined our club on 26th Jul 2012, and hopes to do more service work to help others. Rtn Al will oragnise a visit to Elderly Care Centre at Wong Chuk Hang on 28th September and invites all members to join.
IPP Martin reported that the Philippines is presently experiencing another calamity—a deluge of non stop monsoon rains, an amount of water greater than that of the Ondoy typhoon. Most of the metropolis and several areas in the island of Luzon are presently under water. One of our Rotarian’s of our sister club,
Craig Burrows, indicated a need for assistance for the children in Payatas. His children are in need of food , water, clothing and medicine. IPP Martin proposed donating the collection of today’s meeting to our sister club, which all approved.
At the end, Sergeant At Arm Hon. Sec. Shri reported that he collected HK$1,430 for raffle and fines, PP Indra draw the raffle gift as Rotary Moon Cake Coupon and the winner was PP Raymond.
