Regular lunch meeting: Rtn Otis on "Who am I"

We had VP Rebecca and Rtn Mimi as our birthday girls, President Martin presented red wine as birthday gift.

Today, we had 9 Golfers joined the Golf Tournament this morning.  The 2nd runner up today is VP Rebecca, the first runner up is Rtn Ernie and the Winner is Mr. John Gunning.  Also, we had PP George, Mr. John Gunning and Rtn Ernie got the nearest to pin.  PP George had 2 birdies and had the prize of 2 boxes of golf balls. 

Today, we had our new member, Rtn Otis Edwards to talk about “Who am I”.  Back in the late 1980’s, when “Japan” was in vogue, ignoring all sound and reasonable advice from friends and family, Otis was pursuing his interest in China. He began self-study of Mandarin Chinese in 1987, thereafter traveling independently to Taiwan in 1988.  Upon returning to the US, he was accepted into the University of California, San Diego Chinese Studies Program. He attended the Nankai University Chinese Language program in Tianjin China from 1993-1994. In 1994 he was awarded the Bachelor of Arts degree from UC San Diego. After graduation he traveled back to Mainland China to work in the Industrial Sector. In 2003 Otis was awarded a Master of Business Administration from the University of Western Ontario’s Ivey School of Business – Hong Kong. Since the mid-1980’s, Otis’ passion for understanding China has motivated him to travel to numerous cities within China.
Otis is the Founder and Managing Director, of Red Rover – The China Solutions Company. At Red Rover, Otis helps clients evaluate suppliers for strategic product extensions, and orchestrates the day-to-day tactical operations that contribute to a successful overseas sourcing or domestic sales strategy. Over the past 19 years, Otis has worked with hundreds of mainland factories, alongside factory managers in state-run and JV Chinese factories in many facets of process and product management. Otis has set up and managed China sourcing offices, qualified component and material suppliers, and established sales channels for North American and European clients.
Otis is married to Dr. Susan Mistler, who is a practicing Psychologist and Executive Coach. Together they have three wonderful, (and active) boys: 8 yrs old twins Austin Chance and Mason Blaze, and the youngest 5 yrs old Harper Grayson.
Otis is an active Triathlete, (Swim/Bike/Run) competing in competitions of various lengths, including Ironman. Recently he has returned to playing Division 2 ice hockey. He also coaches his son’s ice hockey team.
PP Thomas collected HK$1,400 for raffle and fines.  PP Paul got the raffle prizes as a bottle of red wine donated by PP Nick.
