Mr. Graeme Maxton: The End of Progress

DDS Francesco, DAG Tobi and Rtn Jim joined the District Golf Tournament held on 1st November (Tuesday) at Shek O Golf Club.  Rtn Jim got the nearest the pin, and our team got 2nd Runner Up.

We had visiting two Rotarians from Germany and Australia, President Martin presented our banner to them.

The speaker today was Mr. Graeme Maxton, who spoke about his new book, The End of Progress, published in September.

Graeme Maxton is an economist, author and presenter.  Well-known for his challenging insights and stimulating presentations, Graeme provides punchy, clearly-articulated analysis on global affairs. A natural and skilled moderator, renowned for his live and recorded ‘in-conversation’ interview style with CEOs, politicians and business leaders, he is the author of several highly acclaimed books.

His latest book, The End of Progress – How modern economics has failed us, deals with the aftermath of the financial crisis, overpopulation, resource depletion and the emergence of China as a global power. It has been nominated for the Financial Times and Goldman Sachs Business Book of the Year Award 2011.

Rtn Shri collected HK$1,280 for raffle and fines.  President’s guest, Naresh won the prize as Steve Jobs biography donated by Rtn Shri.
