The Rotary Club of Hong Kong South is honoured once again to be the title sponsor of the summer concert of Hong Kong Chordophonia (香港弦人), a string orchestra formed by a group of young musicians.
Chordophonia is dedicated to the promotion of music and inspired by the Rotary motto of “Service Above Self”. It thus has a vision to establish a platform where young musicians with great heart, passion and talent can unite, exchange ideas and ultimately use their distinct expertise for good causes and, in their unique way, through the power of music, give back to the community.
This year’s concert wil againl present conductor Johnson Leung leading string arrangements of works by Vivaldi, Piazzolla, Haydn, Sibelius, Tchaikovsky, Ireland and Rebekov.
Chordophonia also embraces the concept of sustainability – a concept akin to Rotary’s “Preserve Planet Earth” focus that fosters concern for the global environment and embraces sustainable development. Funds raised at the concert will be dedicated to Rotary projects that foster environmental awareness.
