Dinner meeting: Jan 3, 2012. Dr John Wong on "The secrets of leadership"

Our speaker of today was Dr. John Wong, who spoke on the topic “The Secrets of Being Top Leaders”.  Dr. Wong has a Doctor of Business Administration (DBA), from University of South Australia. He obtained his MBA and BSc from Dalhousie University. Professionally, he is a Certified Professional Marketer (CPM) of the Asia Pacific Region. In the early 90s he served as the Chairman of the Hong Kong Institute of Marketing. Currently, he is a visiting lecturer at several local and international universities.  In 2001-2002, he served as the President of the Rotary Club of Taipo. He is married and has two sons. Besides English and Cantonese, he speaks fluent Mandarin, French and some Spanish.  Dr. Wong is the co-founder and Managing Director of Executives’ Global Network (Hong Kong) Ltd.  Previously, he was the General Manager of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars China and Hong Kong. He has excellent client contacts, of whom many are amongst the 500 richest in China. His vast experience and contact network allow Dr. Wong to make things happen in China.

Dr. Wong explained to attendees the difference between top leaders and top-top leaders.  He asked us when you have a question, who you will asked for, and different people have their own answers.  For a top top executive, making important decisions can be a lonely business, so being part of a network of your peers—outside of your own company—can be beneficial.

We collected HK$260 for raffle and fines and John helped to draw the raffle gifts, which was a box of Chinese cookies.  PP Raymond won the cookies.
