Our Speaker today was Ashley Allman, an Inbound Rotary Ambassadorial Scholar in Hong Kong, coming from the State of Iowa in the United States. Ashley is sponsored by District 6000 and the Ottumwa Rotary Club and hosted by the Rotary Club of Mid-Level. She graduated from Iowa State University in May 2009 with a B.S. degree in Agricultural Biology and minors in Psychology and International Agriculture. As a graduate student here in Hong Kong, she is obtaining her Master of Arts degree in Anthropology from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Ashley plans to use her knowledge in a career in international education. She has been fortunate to get involved in various Rotary activities and service projects while here in HK and is looking forward to doing even more.
Ashley gave the club an introduction to her hometown and family as well as telling us about the various projects she has been involved with while in Hong Kong; she also related her experience on a NID (National Immunization Days) event that she was able to take part in in India in early January helping to eradicate polio.

Rotary Macau Horse Racing Day will be held on 13 March 2010 at Macau Jockey Club, Taipa, Macau.
District Tennis Competition will be held on 11th and 25th April at Kowloon’s Tsai Park.
We raised HK$56,720 for Shelterbox, which includes Rotary Club of City North’s donation of HK$26,400 and Rotary Club of Macau Central’s donation of HK$7800.
We collected $1,700 for raffle and fines, The raffle prizes were fortune books donated by PP George and the winners were Rtn Adrian, another raffle prize was a bottle of red wine and the winner was Rtn Shri. Ashley gave the club a corn cobs that can be microwaved to create popcorn from her home town, which was auctioned off to benefit Shelterbox; Dr. Yu donated $100 and won the popcorn.
