President Stephen, PE Martin and PP Tobi attended the last JPM of 2010-2011 on 17th June 2011, which was the presentation of District Awards.  Our Club got the Certificate of Merit for Club Bulletin, Vocational Service Project, Outstanding Club Website, Literacy and Education Project, Community Service project and Best International Service Project (Leprosy Project). And we also got Presidential Citation.

Today, we invited PP Joop Litmaath to talk about “The Art of Book-writing”.  PP Joop was born in Hollandand is a graduate of “Nijenrode” University.  He arrived in Hong Kongin 1963.  He has held senior management positions with the worldwide Hagemeyer Group.  In 1974he started his own import/export company.  The company imported timber and exported various consumer products.  The company later merged with Scarfell Enterprises Ltd., which manufactures and exports a wide range of pet toys and accessories.  The factory is located in Heshan, Guangdong Province.

Among his many prominent activities and distinctions PP Joop is a Past President of the Rotary Club of Hong Kong and founder/leader of the Hong Kong City Jazz Band. In 1996 he received a Knighthood in the Order of Orange-Nassau from H.M. Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands; and was honored by the D.B.A. in 2005 with a Life-Time Achievement Award.

PP Joop will donate all proceedings of the selling of his new book “The Flying Dutchman of Hong Kong” to “Make a Wish” HK, as he know writing a book cannot make money.  After his first book published, he received many comments, photos and information from his friends, so it made sense to him to write a second book.  PP Joop also donated a book to us as raffle prize.

The Board decided to present Honorary Membership to Rtn Sam.

Sergeant at Arms PP Tobi collected HK$740 for raffle and fines.  Rtn Betty won the book written and donated by PP Joop and PP Nick won the bottle of red wine as raffle prize.

After years of dedicated service to Rotary, Rtn Sam was presented with Honorary status by the board.
