7 Oct 2010 lunch meeting

As President Stephen was out of town, PE Martin was the Acting President today.  Rtn Didier visited the Rotary Club in Korea and exchanged the banner.
The speakers today were Mr. Aldous Kwan and Mr. Stephen Chan from the Fu Hong Society, who talked about the “Autism Service Centre”.  Hin Dip Centre was established by the Fu Hong Society to provide services to persons with Autism or other Developmental Disabilities.  Tailor-made clinical services are provided to meet special needs and to enable people to overcome difficulties and to increase self confidence.  Specialized training and education services are also provided to equip carers with necessary skills for helping their loved ones grow and learn.
The primary groups served by the center are people with Autistic Spectrum Disorder, Attention Deficit and Hyperactive Disorder, and Developmental Delay.  To overcome these difficulties, the center provides individual and group treatment sessions and even extend their services to schools (especially kindergartens) and provide training to teachers, parents and children.  Mssrs. Kwan and Chan also demonstrations of mind games that helped those in attendance understand what it would be like to have autism.

We collected $1660.50 from the raffle and fines, the winner of raffle was PP Thomas, who received a bottle of red wine.
